Health Coverage
Health Coverage
Health coverage is one of those things that most people don't realize they need until the time that they really need it - lucky for them if they already have one, very unfortunate if they don't have one. Why so? When people are healthy, they tend to be happy-go-lucky and live their lives as if there is no tomorrow. However, they are bound to get sick in the future, no matter how healthy they are now. The problem is that without health insurance, people have to pay a lot for the medical bills - money that they may not currently have.
Benefits
With health coverage, people are secured that even if they get sick and hospitalized one day, the health policy will cover a huge portion or all of the bills. This is one of the practical ways to "save for the rainy days" but the "saving" part is done through another party besides the person concerned. Having a health coverage ensures that the person is always prepared for unexpected medical expenses.
The health coverage does not only include emergency services bills but can also include a certain percentage of room and board for the whole duration of hospitalization, prescription medications, physical therapy, alternative treatments, doctor's and specialist's fees, and medical equipment and accessories. Some health care plans also include dental coverage for prophylaxis, X-rays, fillings, and tooth extraction. When looking for a health coverage company, it is good to note that laboratory examinations should also be covered.
Coverage
The extent to which the health coverage pays the bills - certain percentage, duration, and limit - is determined by the amount of the health plan. Logically, the coverage is directly proportional to the amount of the plan so that inexpensive plans cover the basic elements while more expensive ones cover a lot of extra fields and have higher limits.
It is important to read the clause of the health coverage because most would not provide coverage for those who are older than 80 years old or whose illnesses and circumstances of medical emergency are not within the company's health care list. For instance, most companies do not cover maternity-related expenses.
